For more usability

June 9th, 2010

In order to enhance user experience on our Web sites, we are constantly working on new functionalities. Heptacube presents today two new pages as well as an automatic redirection function on our main site.

Starting today, visitors of “heptacube.com” will be automatically taken to the Canadian or American version. This measure is part of our objective to better distribute resources and should be used in the future for all of our corporate Web productions.

We have also conceived a map of our corporate Web site.

Finally, the third element concerns our secure hosting services, SSL Cube. Details of our hosting plans are now being presented clearly on a unique page from which you can subscribe to one of our hosting plans, in only a couple of clicks, while paying with PayPal. This online form greatly simplifies and speeds up registration to a SSL hosting plan on our servers.

Metaforté for reinvented, individualized interviews

May 27th, 2010

Respond to a survey about Quebec City and get a chance to win $200. This publicity has been getting much attention in the past few weeks. Maybe you have even responded to this questionnaire yourself.

At the request of LXB Communications Marketing, we have contributed to the development of Metaforté, an application used to create the survey in question. Metaforté is a Web application conceptualized by LXB and serves as an interactive focus group.

In addition to being a priceless complement to standard focus groups, this software brings together technology and the power of pictures over the human brain. While it allows for individual interviews, Metaforté uses scientific studies on the analysis of metaphors to help develop efficient neuromarketing strategies.

A great innovation, this software is the combined result of Heptacube’s mastery of the Web and LXB Communications Marketing’s expertise in brand analysis.

Heptacube reaches rank 1 million on Alexa

May 25th, 2010

In the past few months, we spoke frequently on this blog of the company’s constant growth when it comes to employees and clients. We now have a new reason to celebrate our growth: Heptacube has officially entered the select group of the 1,000,000 most visited Web sites on the planet!

Alexa uses a collection of ways to determine the relative ranking of Web sites based on their traffic. At the moment of writing, our main domain, heptacube.com, is at rank 899,970.

Our team is proud that its work converts into concrete success and congratulates itself on achieving this important milestone. We expect that we will continue on this trend and boost our rank of a few hundred thousands in the coming months!

Two new iPhone projects

April 16th, 2010

At the end of last year, we spoke on this blog of Heptacube’s work in the smartphone area, more specifically the launch of hep.tacu.be for iPhone. We are now proud to announce that we are contributing to the creation of two new mobile applications for one of our clients.

The first iPhone application, which will be linked to the thumbsdownthumbsup.com domain, will allow its users to rate their consumer experience with a given company. This means companies as well as customers will have at hand a tool to let them know if a retailer, for instance, has a positive or negative image.

The second application, called “Flight Feedback”, is self-explanatory: it is an app for evaluating one’s flight experience. It is an easy way to learn what people think of the way aviation lines treat their customers.

With these two applications, Heptacube demonstrates once more its ability to work with the iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) as well as its extensive knowledge of developing innovative Web applications.

A New Proof of Concept Web Application by Heptacube

April 13th, 2010

Heptacube’s brains won’t stop coming up with new ideas. Since innovation is a major part of our Web development strategy, our research and development team is continuously trying to find better ways to enhance user experiences on the Web.

Today, we present a simple and versatile new Web application called Mpixel. This application, which serves as a Proof of Concept, is programmed in PHP and allows for uploading image files to be displayed as a mosaic. As well, administrative settings allow for modifying the size of the mosaic grid by adding or cutting image locations.

Finally, since we believe in a free and open Internet, we have decided to publish Mpixel’s source code on our corporate wiki. Don’t hesitate to contact us for sharing your thoughts on Mpixel or anything related to Heptacube!

A new graphic artist joins our team

March 23rd, 2010

Heptacube’s team is in constant evolution and expansion. We recently welcomed a new employee, Claudia Goldberg, a talented graphic artist.

Claudia’s work will balance our programming talents by providing graphical interfaces and other eye-candy for Heptacube’s productions.

Currently, she is focusing her efforts on designing the website for “Diner en Blanc” which we, as announced last week, are producing. In the future, Claudia will provide nicer and more original visual characteristics to the products that we offer to our clients as well as original Heptacube productions.

Heptacube contributes to Montreal’s White Dinner

March 15th, 2010

On August 20th 2009 took place the first White Dinner in Montreal. The White Dinner is a one-night gathering of friends’ friends in a prestigious location of the city for dinner. Elegance and good manners are what make this « Chic Picnic » a success.

You can only get access the event if you know someone who is already invited. The invitees know the date of the event but the location is kept secret until the final moment. Last year, Montreal’s Old Port hosted the 1,500 people present at the first Withe Dinner.

In order to better manage the invitees and organization in general, the organizers wanted to develop a simple and efficient online management tool. They have selected Heptacube for bringing this project to reality.

With our expertise in the development of user-friendly, custom-made Web applications, we will soon provide White Dinner participants with interface where they will be able to subscribe to the event, invite their friends, buy supplies and access useful information. The online tool, accessible to the managers, will also permit easier and more efficient management of the invitations.

The (im)probable future of data storage

March 11th, 2010

A new article has been published on our corporate wiki site for you to read. It takes a look back at the major computer data storage solutions of the past before looking at the future and see what technologies could replace our hard drives and Blu-Ray discs. Here is an excerpt from the text:

“Researchers believe that they could greatly expand the capacity of storage devices, cramming 1 Exabyte of data into the space required today for 1 Gigabyte, therefore multiplying data density by a factor of 1 billion.”

Net Neutrality

February 23rd, 2010

This week on our coporate wiki site, we offer you an article about Net Neutrality, the concept that the Internet should be “open, accessible and ‘neutral’ to all users, application providers and network carriers.” It has been an important subject of discussion in the past months, particularly in the U.S.

We go through the arguments both of the groups pushing for regulation towards net neutrality and of those who think the government must not get involve into Internet regulation. We also provide an analysis of the pros and cons of those views, but as you will see, the debate is far from over.
